Great live albums. Remember them? The Who Live At Leeds, The Rolling Stones Get Yer Ya Yas Out. Bob Dylan Live At The Albert Hall, Thin Lizzy Live & Dangerous. What have they all got in common? They are all classic performances captured in analogue waves on tape.

Where has the excitement gone?

Over the last 10 years it’s become easier to make a digital memento of the live concert experience, but do any of these recordings really reflect any of the excitement of actually being there? Most of them are digitally recorded straight from the mixing desk onto hard disk, completely by-passing the atmosphere and excitement present in the moment. These recordings may be purchased as souvenirs of the night, but how many times will they get replayed in the cold light of day?

Bring your audience back

Valve Mobile can help to place your audience back in the venue by taking their Fostex B16 16 track recorder out on the road with you. Live sound from the stage is balanced by the accurate placement of individual microphones for each instrument plus ambient microphones to record the audience. After the event, the tapes are taken back to Valve Studios where they are assessed and edited for content and quality. The final selections are mixed and mastered ready to be pressed onto compact disc, or if you prefer, vinyl.
