The mighty Kuschty Rye will soon return to Valve after the successful release and launch tour for their critically acclaimed new album The Good Gentleman’s Tonic. www.kuschtyrye.net

Pre-production work on the next record is taking it’s first steps.

‘The Bastard’s Tin’ will be the second in the Ronnie Lane & Slim Chance inspired trilogy.

After an extended period of rearranging the studio gubbins, things are almost….. errm, back to normal; but not the same. This means for those who are familiar with Valve, we now have a bigger control room and smaller live room and some more nice outboard stuff. For those unfamiliar with Valve (get yerself booked in) it’s how it’s always been.

IT’S GETTING BUSY!

2010 is shaping up nicely so far.

Our most recent visitor was the very talented Joel White (son of guitar legend Frank White) and his musical duo compadre, the equally (Simon would say unequalled!:)) excellent Simon Peat. Both top session players having played with bands such as Pulp (Joel) and Amy Winehouse (Simon).

The chaps were delighted with the great sound of Valve and it’s waaarrrmmmth! They’re threatening to return very soon in trio format. Can’t wait!

BBC2 Folk Award and Spiral Earth Award nominee Katriona Gilmore (half of top folk duo Gilmore Roberts) was in recently recording violin and mandolin parts for a forthcoming album by rootsy-rockers Kuschty Rye. The album is being produced by top young producer Andy Bell.

Corvidae, the locally based progressive rockers are in the process of recording their first EP. It’s going well and they return on January 30th.

The Carnabys

Leicester/Loughborough band the Carnabys found us after a long search, and, after several expensive and unsuccessful recording attempts at ‘major’ studios, they’ve found their spiritual home here at Valve. Under the expert guidance of our good pal Andy Bell recordings are going extremely well and we expect a completed album around the end of March. Analogue rules! Just ask the Carnabys.

As ever great works of art, like a classic brew take time to ferment….. and fermentation of the Carnabys classic brew is almost complete.

FIENDISH! LIVE CHARITY CD BY THE BLUES REVELATOR BAND

26.11.2008 Following the recent success of the charity concert held at The Hebden Bridge Trades Club to celebrate the life of drummer Kenny Hoyle, copies of the live Blues Revelator Band CD given away at this event are now being made available in exchange for a small donation. The archive recording was taken from the mixing desk at The Bradshaw Tavern in the Autumn of 2002 and features a storming performance by Kenny and the band. The CD will be obtainable at Muse Music in Hebden Bridge or Wall Of Sound in Huddersfield from early December. Alternatively copies can be supplied in the post by sending cheques for £6.00 per CD (including £1.00 for postage & packing) made out to ‘FHCC PROMOTIONS’ 342 Chester Road, Cornbrook, Manchester M16 9EZ. £5.00 from each purchase will be donated to The Myfanwy Townsend Melanoma Research Fund in memory of Kenny Hoyle 1952-2008.

More Action at Valve…

Our good friend Andy Bell, engineer and producer to the Stars; has been tirelessly slaving over our hot Trident on the ‘well under way after a few attempts’ Kuschty Rye album. Under his expert guidance, things are sounding marvellous. Andy is currently working with UISCEDWR and has recently finished projects with Seasick Steve, Teenage Fanclub, Kerfuffle and others. A very busy boy whom we have chained to the desk! He can never leave!!

Recent visitors include a very talented singer-songwriter from Hebden Bridge called Mabel Blue. Mabel was winner of the Trades Club songwriter competition to which we contributed a prize in the shape of a 3 hour studio-time token. Mabel loved it so much she is staying to record an EP and possibly an LP. Groovy……. check her songs out on myspace.

Dave Pegg and PJ Wright

DAVE PEGG & PJ Wright(of Fairport Convention and Ashley Hutchings’ Morris On) are currently on tour around the country, with their ‘A Night Off With Peggy and PJ’ shows. We went along to see them at Blackpool Grand Theatre. What a great night…top notch playing, stories and excellent songs.

Outback Music will be promoting a show entitled ‘ An Afternoon Off With Peggy and PJ ‘ at The Puzzle Hall on July 16th at 4.30pm. Valve Mobile will be recording the show for a live album release.

Angelo Palladino at Valve

Brand New Analogues

We’ve been busy recording songs with the very splendid BRAND NEW ANALOGUES.

BNA are a brilliant 3-piece Rock band from Keighley, just over the hill from the legendary Valve Studios here in sunny (sometimes) Mytholmroyd.

Between them; J.T., Gaz and Phil write and perform their own highly melodic, high octane brand of rock that beats the shit out of you but leaves you smiling.

BNA will be back at Valve in July to complete songs for an Autumn release……. (BNA). Check their presence on MySpace which links to their website.
